Yes, absolutely. It is a low-risk sport. Quads are stable 4-wheeled vehicles that are not susceptible to tipping over. They are not a threat per se. The weakest link is man. A driver who drives a machine with bravado gets carried away by euphoria, lack of imagination are the factors that increase the possibility of an accident and can lead to a tragedy.
Accidents involving ATVs are rare in Poland. Statistically, it is only a small percentage. Certainly, riding a quad bike is much safer than driving a car or motorcycle.

Quads - is a driving license required?
A driving license is not required if you drive a quad in a closed area e.g. on special off-road areas, on racetracks open to everyone, on a private estate, etc.
If you want to use public roads, you must have a driving license. Its type depends on the age of the driver and the type of vehicle. The minimum age is 14.
Age of quad driver
Quad can be driven from the age of 14.
- 14-15 years old - category AM driving license
- 16-17 years old - category B1 driving license
- 18 years and over - category B driving license
Weight and capacity of the quad
Light quads weighing less than 350 kg, with a maximum speed of up to 45 km/h, engine power up to 125 cm3 require an AM driving license.
Heavier quads, otherwise known as regular ones, can be driven after the age of 16. Category B1 is required for 16-17 year olds. For adults category B.
The lack of a driving license is punishable by a fine of PLN 300-500.
Driving license is not everything, however. The quad should also have third party liability insurance, homologation and registration certificate.
How to drive a quad?
Riding a quad bike is safe. All you need to do is use common sense and not get carried away with bravado. For novice drivers, turning is the hardest thing to master. If the terrain is sloping, it is easiest to tip over. When making a turn, we should shift the center of gravity of our body, leaning to the inside of the bend. It is important to simultaneously control the gas throttle and adjust the speed of the turning quad to the existing terrain and weather conditions.
When descending and ascending hills, it is important to know how to balance your body. What counts is the general feeling and the ability to assess the terrain. We pay attention to any obstacles: holes, large stones, fallen tree branches. While driving, it is absolutely necessary to exclude supporting yourself with your foot on the ground. There is a risk of breakage! Someone who has ridden a motorcycle before should eliminate this reflex completely.
If we drive a quad with a manual gearbox, we also need to learn how to maneuver the gears efficiently. There are no such requirements on a quad with an automatic transmission. The vehicle itself will decide when it is best to change gear. All we have to do is carefully observe the area in front of us and drive the vehicle ... that's it! Have a great road!
